Not every remodel is a full gut job. For this project we kept the existing cabinetry, added a few new ones, and updated the cosmetic finishes to completely transform this space from one with little personality to a kitchen filled with Mid-Century charm. To make the space more efficient, we added a pantry cabinet with rollouts and replaced the cabinets below the secondary sink to accommodate a toaster oven and create a space for shoe storage near the back entrance. Opposite of this wall, we added additional base cabinets with open shelves above for more prep/serving space. We installed a funky cube tile to the front of the bar/peninsula area for both function and style. New floors, quartz countertops, sleek lighting, and a horizontal stacked backsplash complete the modern aesthetic the homeowner was hoping to achieve.
